Pastor Jim R. Johnson

Position:  Senior Pastor of Calvary Free Lutheran Church

Responsibilities: Teaching (Bibles study, Sunday School, etc.); Preaching; Visitation; Administration.

Family:  Marsha (wife), Josh (son), Marli (daughter).

Interests:  Family activities, sports, reading.

Education:   Graduate of the Association Free Lutheran Bible School, Minneapolis, MN (1977-79); Bachelor of Arts from Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, IL (1979-82); Masters of Divinity from the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary, Minneapolis, MN (1982-1986).

Other Pastorates:  Slim Buttes Lutheran Church, Reva, SD (1985-94); Solid Rock Free Lutheran Church, Anoka, MN (1994-2001).

Testimony:  I praise the Lord for the solid Christian home I was raised in. I was brought to the Lord in baptism and taught the Word of God from the very beginning. God instilled in me a consciousness of his forgiveness and grace through a couple of Bible camp experiences. Convicted of sin and the need for assurance God called me to make a public confession of faith in that setting. God continues to apply his "Amazing Grace" to my life daily through his Word and Spirit.

Favorite Bible Passage:  "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich is mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved."  Ephesians 2:4,5

Pastor Jim writes:   It is so good to realize that our connection to God depends on him and not us. His love, his mercy, his grace are what saves us. We simply receive the gift he gives. Confessing our sin and recognizing our helplessness we place our trust in him alone. He forgives and brings us new spiritual life enabling us to find fulfillment in him.
