Vining Lutheran Church |
||||
The roots of the Vining Lutheran Church go back to the year 1872. At that time, early Norwegian immigrants met in homes to worship. The first church building was begun in 1878 and was constructed of logs. This building was built near the current site of the Nidaros Lutheran Church. In 1882 some of those members began a church building in the city of Vining and it was completed in 1892. In 1916 the building was raised and a basement was added. In 1946, a parsonage was purchased. In 1987, the new narthex/entrance was constructed. More recently, an addition has been completed which contains a large fellowship hall, kitchen, 2 offices and 2 bathrooms. At this congregation founding, the mission of the church was to proclaim the Word and Administer the Sacraments to members whose lives would reflect attributes of prayer, praise, thanksgiving, witness and service. This basic mission has not changed. As the only denominational church in the local community we welcome all Christians to worship with us. Vining Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) and is one of four congregations in a local parish. (Folden, Leaf Mountain, Nidaros and Vining) Our pastors are Pastor Mark Tiede and Pastor Connie Tiede. The telephone number of Vining Lutheran Church is (218) 769-4251.
