Ken Nyberg, a descendant of early Norwegian
settlers who came to the Vining area, is the person who has
created many interesting sculptures.
In 1991, he fashioned out of scrap metal a 1,200 lb
sculpture of a foot. It
stands 11 feet tall and has an exaggerated big toe.
This piece was given to the town of Vining.
Ken continued creating various projects and
as you drive through Vining you will see a cowboy on a fence
greeting visitors, a large old-fashioned clothespin, a pliers
with a bug, a large cup of coffee, a Native American on a horse,
a huge square knot, a potted cactus, a Martian, and an
astronaut.
Kens workshop is located a mile north of
Vining and several other interesting sculptures are on display
there.
Ken
has had national coverage with his works and has been featured
on several television pieces, both locally and nationally.
Vining is proud of Ken and his works!
A business, “Big Foot” gas and grocery opened within
the last several years and was named this in recognition of the
attention Ken’s foot has brought to our town.
